Lilly was built for a customer who knew exactly what he wanted. He remembered seeing a boat in Exeter Maritime Museum 30 years ago, a Bucks Ledge Lugger, a small working boat from the North Devon village of Bucks Mills. 

A bit of research was required to find the boat to get a good idea of how she looked. After the Exeter museum closed she went to Eyemouth in Scotland. thankfully a chance conversation revealed she had since been bought back to North Devon. 

The lines of the original boat Flying Foam were taken and used to build Lilly. Lilly differs in that she has a standing lug rig and clinker planking as requested by her owner. 

The combination of research and historical links has made this a very interesting project. the result is an eye catching little boat, much admired wherever she goes. 

Lilly is planked in Sitka Spruce and Mahogany with oak frames and fit out along with an Elm transom. 

Lilly was launched in May 2023.
